as far as i know, all of us are going to die.
our hope, our stories, and the fantazy of " good people" telling tales of heaven, or a new system, or future reassembling of our consciousness is not likely?
do you still cling to it?.
I find life now, ultra precious. When I was a JW.org drone, I lived for WT. All decisions, thoughts were for not hurting Jehovah. Not making Jehovah sad . I wanted, needed to live in paradise. Badly. Being married to someone that is 100% wrong for you, is a death sentence.
In a way, married to someone I did not love and having to move so far inland, from friends and familiar places, when I got married, I died that day.
Now, my intention is to live. When my battery of life wears out, and I do die, I won't know it. I will just be gone.

a little experience that happened very recently:.
another brother, an elder, and i were talking, i was explaining to him and giving him several examples of how a couple of the elders in our congregation were blatantly trying to run their own show, parading themselves around as "representatives" of the body, when the other brothers didnt know what the hell they were talking about.
they are using their "elder powers" to bully and push people around, causing a bit of angst and hurt feelings.
His title is Elder. But what he really is, is a walking, talking non-thinking non-blinking 100% plastic JW.org DRONE.

this drives me insane when i am rebutted after i say "well take it easy brother so & so" after a small conversation.
they always seem to reply "we are in jehovah's organization there is no taking it easy" or "we are in the last days brother we don't have time to take it easy".
i guess this makes me a care-free man of the world rather than a spiritual man!!
Hello NoMoreHustle, I don't know what part of the world you are from, but personally, I have never heard that rebuttal expression before. I agree with you. lol It would drive me crazy too.
In Southern California, beach area, a common expression (used to be?) in parting to religious people or normal people, "Don't work too hard". lol The response to that was to smile, wave and so, "Okay. I'll try not to". It was harmless banter among friends.
It was also an accepted expression when parting to say, "Have fun". This covered whatever you are doing. lol
Those expressions had never been heard in the immigrant, farming community area I had the privilege of moving to, after I said at the Kingdumb Hall, "I do"...

last week i was in hong kong on a holiday and ran into some jws.
i was in a large shopping mall and noticed a number of jws holding out a pamphlet to passerbys.
before i knew it there was one walking towards me and stopped right in front of me stopping me from moving forward.. the jw was virtually shoving the pamphlet towards me and said i would like to offer you this pamphlet that directs you to a web site that will answer all your questions that you have about life.
i went to the meeting this morning and we had some guy from overseas bethel give the public talk.
6 countries subsidize the rest.
he said in some countries all the donations that they get from contributions don't even pay the electricity bill for the branch buildings so money has to come in from these 6 richer countries.
Hoser ... Was this a begging for money talk, green handshakes, welcomed??? lol
lol Just because someone says something... Back it up with facts, Bethel speaker guy... Show us the accounts. or or is he too embarrassed because he knows JW.org is a billion dollar enterprise.

i sent my dad the fred franz talk "my story" when he somewhat candidly discusses the failed prophecies, 1925 etc.
i was hoping it would plant a seed of doubt in his heart.
however my parents eat sleep and breathe wt.
Anyone, for any length of time involved with JW.org, has been abused. It is an abusive religion.
Your parents are traumatized so much, (just as WT/JW.org hopes) that they have lost touch with reality. They are not planning on a future, but the GB certainly is.
Look up Stockholm Syndrome.
When 10 more years go by, and your parents are wondering where is this promised paradise, will they think, huh, GB moved into swanky new digs in New York, I guess they plan ahead??? Gosh, Mabel (names have been changed) maybe we should have worked and saved for our retirement and we should have done some of the things that would have made us happy. The GB sure look happy.
Your parents and most JW's aka JW.org do not have their hand out. They are mostly kind hearted people, but not deep thinkers. They give and GB don't give back except to give empty promises of paradise, mean while , back on the farm, GB are basking in ego boosting glory, vacations, and golf in the winter down in Florida.
I feel so sorry for your parents. Giving up a job to pioneer? GB tell people to pioneer and emotionally abuse people but insinuating if you are not a pioneer, then Jehovah won't love you. GB don't worry about rent or mortgage payments, or medical or dental health. Not only do they not worry about making car payments, they have chauffeured driven car rides. As long as they can keep brow beating, sorry, suckers, to give them money every month, they are whistling a happy tune.

i was raised as a jehovahs witness.
currently i still am part of a congregation, which i gather is also the case for many who come here.
i no longer consider them god's chosen people.
Moses Joe , Hello. It is always nice to meet thinking people. Welcome.
